Buildings - Main Campus

Title: Buildings - Main Campus
Description: Written on back of photograph: Construction on the first group of buildings was begun in 1963 and completed in 1965. These core buildings are shown here. At the far right is the Laboratory Building. The building in the centre (left side) is the Classroom Building which opens onto a sunken courtyard. A ramp, instead of stairs, leads from the main sidewalk into the courtyard. The lecture-theatre wing, on the far left side of the courtyard, contains one 300-seat and one 165-seat theatre. The library (centre background) also opens onto a sunken courtyard; it was completed in 1967. These buildings were designed by Minoru Yamasaki, internationally known architect and planner. Mr. Yamasaki also drew up the long-term master plan for development of the campus.
