Exhibition Description
The lines in this drawing are intentional. With simplicity, there must also be strong intent. With absence of color, every stroke calculates the information the viewer receives. The woman staring back at us appears comfortable with our gaze. Her elbow rests causally on the dresser’s edge. We assume she is in her own home, or another she is at ease with.
As we scan her surroundings we see wallpaper, layered with mementos and a clock. The dresser boasts a potted plant in full bloom, on fabric to protect its coveted surface. An engraved vase and pleated cup gently keep hair pins with style. The viewer imagines from our glimpse how the rest of the room unfolds. With layers of curiosities and effortless luxury.
