Exhibition Description
Filer’s paintings emphasize the softer qualities of watercolour, with organic shapes, ambiguous blobs, and drip effects. This watercolour painting features vibrant yellows on the top, darker blacks in the middle, and rusty shades at the bottom. Unlike Filer’s previous work of sunset, landscapes and cloudscapes, this painting shows no real-world references by having a non-representational theme. Its counterparts in Filer’s abstract painting collection, it is formatted to replicate a scroll.
