News releases are a rich resource for the history of University buildings, units, programs, people and events. They serve as jumping off points/cues to help us access other archival resources. As a result of the 2021 project, 2700+ U of R news releases from the Archives’ holdings (dating back to 1962) are now full-text searchable and available 24-7 in oURspace.

Highlights from the historical news releases include such headlines as “First buildings at University of Saskatchewan’s new Regina Campus officially opened today” (October 8, 1965),“Two-week long Convocation Festival to be held to celebrate the first degree-granting ceremonies of Regina Campus” (May 13, 1965) and “IBM 1620 digital computer acquired by Regina Campus” (October 25, 1963.)
