I started at Dr. John Archer Library in 2019. My current role is Data Services Librarian, Government Publications Librarian, and Liaison to Geography and Environmental Studies, but I’ve also covered the Nursing, KHS, Psychology, and FGSR liaison duties. I’m relatively new to Librarianship, having completed my MLIS at Western in 2017. Prior to that I worked in secondary public education.
If you need to talk data at the Library, I’m your person! My Data Services duties include Research Data Management (RDM), searching for secondary data, and promoting data literacy. I provide professional development, consultation, and assistance with RDM especially in the areas of Data Management Plans and Data Deposit. As the Data Liberation Initiative contact, I work with other librarians across Canada to ensure students and researchers can get access to Statistics Canada data and other data published by governments and NGOs.
My projects as the Data Services Librarian include my Data in Everyday Life blog, work on various data committees and working groups, and keeping RDM content up to date. I also work on other non-data teams including the Ed/MAP team, collections and assessment teams, open access promotion, and information literacy promotion.
As we return to a traditional, albeit different, campus experience I’m looking forward to meeting and working with students and researchers face-to-face.
