I started working at the Dr. Archer Library in 2015 as the Curator/Preparator for the University of Regina President’s Art Collection. My role involves day-to-day management of the University’s art collection, taking care of the collections, installing artwork around campus and making sure the University community gets to experience as much of our fantastic collection as possible.

It’s an unusual job within the University… and I love it! I get to work with staff all over campus, and there always new challenges to figure out. I feel lucky to have amazing resources at my fingertips: the expertise and guidance of skilled and thoughtful colleagues in areas of copyright, Indigenization, administration and campus infrastructure, and of course, the Library, Archives and Special Collections, which I use frequently for research. This ecology is so valuable and underpins much of my work with the collection.

COVID-19 presented new challenges and required many shifts. I was happy to be able to tackle more of the administrative side of my job, but I missed being on campus and interacting with colleagues. Seeking that connection, I used the opportunity to contribute more to the work of the Library in general, and I’ve since taken on the role of Chair of the External Communications Promotions Team and Social Media committee. I’ve also joined the Web Team, as we develop a new website. I’m really looking forward to upcoming projects, and of course, being back on campus.
