I am currently working as the Liaison Librarian for Nursing, Psychology, Kinesiology and Health Studies. I joined the University of Regina in 2011 when the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (SCBScN) program was launched. Thirteen years later, I still find that being part of this monumental journey is both challenging and exciting! Working with the Faculty of Nursing and the Collaborative program has given me the opportunity to interact closely with staff and students from both the University of Regina and Saskatchewan Polytechnic. This experience has truly enriched my professional life and strengthened my dedication to educational excellence.

As an academic librarian with liaison responsibilities to my subject areas, I support the university’s educational mission by teaching information literacy (IL) and providing reference services to students and staff. In my IL classes, I provide guidance on navigating the library’s numerous databases, proper citation, effective research strategies, evaluating sources for credibility, and identifying appropriate resources for academic writing. In addition to providing classroom and virtual instruction, I am available for one-on-one research consultations with students and staff. Occasionally, students will apologize for taking up my time when I help them find resources for their assignments. They are relieved to learn that librarians and archivists are there to assist them. Frankly, that is the best part of my job!

There has been a growing need for assistance in evidence-synthesis research projects in recent years. As a result, I am part of a team that is supporting faculty and graduate students in this area. I am available to help formulate search strategies for systematic or scoping reviews, and I assist with navigating data extraction tools such as Covidence and Sumari.

Working as a librarian at the University of Regina offers the incredible opportunity to support students, faculty, and researchers every day. Seeing them succeed and knowing you played a part in their academic journey is immensely rewarding.
