Article processing charges (APCs) are now a significant expense for many researchers. Authors are often forced to pay a hefty fee to their journal of choice to make their work openly available to the public, or they must find another way to make their work available while complying with funding mandates that require open access.
Now, U of R researchers have more options. In 2024, the University of Regina and Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) announced the signing new three-year, read-and-publish agreements with Elsevier and Oxford University Press (OUP) Journals.
As part of this agreement, University of Regina authors will benefit from unlimited open access publishing in more than 1,800 Elsevier hybrid journals, as well as OUP’s hybrid journals, without paying an APC. These agreements are expected to increase the number of U of R research publications available to the general public and build our research impact, while reducing costs for individual researchers.
Through these agreements, the Dr. John Archer Library and Archives continues to demonstrate its commitment to open access and making knowledge accessible to all.
