On the afternoon of January 13, 2023 more than 50 grade 9 and 10 students from the Balfour Collegiate Arts Collective visited the University of Regina. The students engaged with the Archives’ holdings related to the arts and learned more about the programs and services available in the University’s Faculty of Media, Art & Production Studies. They saw two student-curated exhibits of archival works that were on display at Archer, one of which focused on artist Mary Filer, who studied art at Balfour Technical School from 1939-41. Staff from the Dept. of Visual Arts, Archer Library & Archives and the President’s Art Collection gave orientations and behind-the-scenes tours to students.
“Our students had lots of great things to say and really enjoyed their tour. It was a great way to introduce them to the facilities and options at the U of R. We would love to continue to connect [and] work together.” - Will Whitten, Teacher, Balfour Arts Collective.
“You guys are wonderful! I must say that my experience searching for information is frustrating due to the lack of my own technical skills, but you guys have always provided excellence service and help.”
