Over the course of the 2019-2020 academic year, the library and the student success centre worked together to develop a local adaptation of the Student Papers and Academic Research Kit (SPARK). The guide was launched in beta form in January 2020 while being tested with several student audiences to inform final revisions, with plans for a full on-campus launch in fall of 2020. As with many things the pandemic disrupted that launch. However, having this resource in place on the library’s research guide platform provided a broad ranging academic support to all undergraduate students in a format they could access at any time from wherever they were engaging in remote study.

The SPARK guide:

  • Supports students in all aspects of completing a university level essay or research paper.
  • Contains 156 short tutorials and resources.
  • Is divided into 13 sections for easy navigation.
  • Tutorials can each be completed in a few minutes.
  • Continues to be updated based on student feedback.
  • Can be found at uregina.libguides.com/spark
  • Had 1,756 page views during the fall 2020 semester.
