I’m new to the University of Regina, Regina in general, and Saskatchewan as a whole! I started my position as the Digital Services Librarian and French Liaison Librarian at the end of September 2019. Originally from Ontario, I completed my Masters of Library and Information Studies at McGill and for the five years prior to starting at the U of R, I had been living and working in the United Arab Emirates as the Web Services Librarian at the American University of Sharjah.
My role here at Archer covers a lot of ground. As the French Liaison librarian, I provide in-class instruction, research help, collection development, and in-depth reference consultations in French and/or English to the faculty and students of La Cité, the Baccaulauréat en éducation program, and the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (SCBScN) program’s Bilingual Option.
As Digital Services Librarian, I work on projects ranging from website planning, to the creation and curation of digital collections, to web accessibility assessment, to customizing digital interfaces, to staying up-to-date on and evaluating digital trends in libraries, and more.
Though I had a solid start to my work at the University of Regina prior to the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, like the other library staff, I have been working remotely since March. The pandemic has been a challenge to everyone, and I have been doing what I can to help make teaching and learning in a fully digital environment easier. This has meant implementing new communications channels to keep my coworkers connected, helping to create and administer online exams, finding new ways to provide in-class instruction and research help, and streamlining resource access from off-campus.
In the upcoming academic year of 2020-21, I’ll also be taking on liaison librarian duties with the Department of Film. I look forward to working with people from across the University in my varied roles!
